is there any sports-science researcher that could help me with this very vague answer about conditioning ?

The original question was:

How can i increase my shot power in football so that i can produce shots like rooney or gerrard ?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvaGsgDlkT3MoWk4FYPDxPoazKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20090730124822AAb3owr

This was the best answer but it is very complicated for me to understand…

"The honor of having the hardest kick goes to those with the fastest muscles. The faster your muscles move your leg the quicker you will kick.

Like in any sport, proper soccer conditioning makes all the difference. What most people don’t realize is that there are three aspects to well rounded conditioning: endurance, strength and speed.

Condition your soccer muscles specifically for speed

We have been researching and practicing what makes muscles fast for years. Using both scientific research and athletic experience, we have uncovered the little known secrets of what it takes to condition your muscles specifically for speed.

Using this knowledge, we have developed a unique soccer speed training program that is designed to do one thing and one thing only, make your soccer muscles move quicker and faster.

Muscles can not be conditioned for speed in the same way they are conditioned strength.

Even if you have been playing for years and work out regularly, you will probably realize that though you may feel stronger and have more endurance, you are still not much faster now than you were previously.

That is because you have been ignoring for speed the specific fibers in your muscles that can generate explosive speed and quickness. These fibers can not be conditioned using the traditional methods of strength training. In fact, those methods could actually make you slower.

The best strategy for getting faster muscle speed

What we have found is that muscle speed is best developed using a program of isometric exercises with resistance bands.

Now we know that isometrics has been around for many years, and dramatic results have been achieved using this technique, but because of the many new training methods that have been introduced over the past several years, isometrics has been mostly ignored.

Also resistance bands have become more popular recently; however they are typically used as a replacement for weights and cables.

We have found that isometrics, the way we teach it using the resistance band, is the ideal method to develop blazing speed and quickness in soccer and in any other sport.

Incredible results in athletic performance have been realized when muscles are properly conditioned for speed.

Now we all know that there are all kinds of soccer drills, practice equipment, soccer training programs and theories about how to improve your game. And that’s fine, of course, because proper technique and practice are crucial to winning.

But when it comes to getting faster and quicker every one has a different technique or theory. But, latest research has uncovered what some experts are now beginning to agree on:

That speed and quickness are not the same as strength and endurance, and you won’t achieve great muscle speed with training based on commonly used strength and endurance techniques.

Speed is not determined by how strong your muscles are, that is by how much weight they can lift, but by how quickly they react and contract. And speed and quickness of your muscles is accomplished by properly conditioning what are called your fast twitch muscle fibers. These are the specific fibers in your muscles that are responsible for speed and quickness.

The secret to more explosive power found in this remarkable exercise program is that it specifically targets the fast twitch muscle fibers to do 2 things.

1. Condition your muscles to contract with amazing speed and quickness, and
2. Develop ‘muscle memory’ in your neuro pathways so your reactions are automatic and instinctive.

And, it does all this in a safe, simple and easy to follow routine that anyone can do, practically anywhere and anytime in just a few minutes a day, without any special equipment.

And because fast twitch muscle fibers respond to conditioning much faster and easier than strength – or slow twitch – fibers, you will feel lighter and faster and start experiencing astonishing running speed and kicking power in just a few days."

much, much thanks in advance

Dont know if all that is OK but played a little pro football myself in the sixties Most players with the hardest shot had a natural gift for it Thats why some can and some cant Even in golf some can hit it long while other just cant do it even though they practise for hours The player who had the hardest shot I played with was a guy called Bobby Howfield He played for quite a few clubs and was famed for his hard shooting He quit football went to live in US and made a name for himself playing American Football He couldnt play but used him as a kicker and I think he made a bit of a career playing for a New York team although Im not that sure So getting back to your question dont think you will ever hit the ball like Rooney and the like even if you do all these training tips

How to start a charity?

I have a love of soccer, charity, good will, and foreign countries – specifically third world countries. I want to combine all of my loves to form a charity, but the thing is, I don’t know how to incorporate all four!

I have some ideas:
- coach, train, and referee soccer, and all earned money goes towards buying soccer Equipment for third world countries.
- coach, train, and referee soccer and travel to other countries to teach others about the power of soccer in their lives.
- a combination of both?

Any ideas would be amazing!

ANSWER

Soccer is popular in many parts of the world, including many developing countries. Grass Roots Soccer is the biggest non-profit organization that I know that works with soccer – it’s based in Africa.

Playing soccer in itself has it’s own benefits, but it if you are interested in really helping others help themselves, think about how you can use it to teach other things, like about HIV, literacy or conflict resolution. For example, you could have a summer camp that involves soccer but also involves one of those themes. The problems that kids have in developing countries isn’t that they don’t own a new pair of cleats. To really help them you have to think a little bit beyond just giving out equipment. Check out this website:

I also think that with the World Cup 2010 taking place in South Africa this summer, now’s a great time to start or get involved in solidarity initiatives. In fact, we have some guys on the Forum who are helping a Swede walk to South Africa, assemble the biggest football shirt in history and help the underprivileged at the same time.

The Big Issue’s Community Street Soccer Program

The Community Street Soccer Program, known as Street Soccer, is an initiative of The Big Issue Australia. The program uses the power of sport to promote social inclusion and personal change for homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people. It changes lives and creates healthier communities across Australia.

Street Soccer involves males and females of all ages and abilities, getting together once a week for soccer training and matches. Permanent pitches, equipment and a dedicated soccer coach are provided at each location. Support staff also work closely with players, linking them to services that address their individual issues and needs.

Street Soccer puts the person at the centre of the solution and provides them with the support and tools necessary to help themselves make positive change.

Where is the cheapest place I can get Agilty equipment for my dogs?

I’m training my dogs to be show dogs. But the problem is, i don’thave enough money to buy real equipment. My dogs can catch tennis balls in the sky while doing a half flip, jump over really high branches and stick, play soccer, swim, jumprope, and jump through hula hoops! Help!

www.affordableagility.com
I would recommend the beginner package that has been mentioned before, it’s not an entire set, or of good quality. But it will do for the time being.

I suggest you enrol in agility classes to ensure that you and your dog are learning how to use the equipment properly to help prevent injury.
